Technical & Sales Assistant

Stéphanie, our newest member, joined the technical & sales assistants team 6 months ago. Following several years in the fragrance sector, she decided to venture into events organisation with BEAM. From her background to her tasks and favourites…let’s get to know Stéphanie!

Hello Stéphanie, what is your job at BEAM?

I’m a technical & sales assistant, which means I come into play as soon as the client signs a contract to book one of our venues for their event. I work alongside a project manager to assist the organiser throughout preparation and hosting of their event. I’m in charge of the upstream management of certain services, such as catering (coffee breaks, caterers) or welcome staff. I’m also involved in set-up, particularly when there is an ‘exhibition’ aspect, and carry out a detailed inspection of stands. I’m at the client’s and exhibitors’ disposal to ensure the specifications brief is complied with and to deal with any last-minute requests. I’m also present during the event to make sure everything runs smoothly. After the event, the more administrative task of invoicing awaits me.

What did you do before joining BEAM?

My educational and career path is a little unusual. After obtaining a professional certificate in Beauty and a vocational diploma in Sales, I spent a year in the USA as an au pair before returning to France to obtain my baccalaureate, followed by a two-year technical degree in Urban Management & Tourism Development, and a bachelor’s degree in Tourism. I thus managed to train in the areas I’m passionate about, i.e. perfume, sales and English. I began my working life in a travel agency, before moving to the fragrance sector, where I spent 8 years. I then grew hungry for new career adventures which would combine sales with foreign languages. The vacancy for a technical & sales assistant at BEAM was exactly what I was looking for, with the added bonus of a highly appealing presence on the ground. So that’s how I went from beauty to event organisation!

What is your favourite part of the job?

Being on the ground, at the heart of the event. I’m rigorous by nature, so I enjoy checking all the exhibitors’ stands.

What other job would you like to have had?

A job in the tourism sector, with a travel agency or tour operator.

What event do you dream of hosting in Bordeaux?

As a keen movie-goer, a film festival. And why not a festival devoted to romantic comedies (laughs)!

What is your ‘morning routine’ at the office?

I always begin my day by checking my emails over a cup of tea.

What is your favourite spot in Bordeaux?

I love to recharge my batteries in the heart of nature! My favourite spots for getting away from the bustle of Bordeaux are the Marjolan Park in Blanquefort and the Sources du Peugue woods in Pessac.

Bordeaux Events And More. What added extra to you bring to BEAM?

My rigour, my ability to learn fast, and my English accent (laughs)!

And how do your teammates describe you?

#discreet #enthusiastic #efficient#cheerful #stylish
